ADMISSIONS INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Nirma University is established in the year 2003 as a Statutory University under the Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly and is recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The University offers admissions into the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes run under different institutes to international students as supernumerary seats under different categories as under:

  • CIWGC-SEA: The candidates whose parent are working at Gulf countries or South East Asia are only eligible under this category.
  • OCI : The Persons who are citizens of other countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian Passport, or who or either of his parents or any of his grand parents was a citizen of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of India or Sec 2 (b) of Citizenship Act, 1955 ( Act No. 57 of 1955) are only eligible under this category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are considered under this category.
  • FN: The citizens of all countries other than India, who are not of Indian origin as defined under OCI are eligible under this category. This category includes SAARC countries also.
  • NRI / NRI SPONSORED QUOTA: NRI is an Indian citizen but not resident of India. NRI Sponsored quota applies to the candidate who is an Indian citizen and produces a sponsor letter from a person who is an NRI

Academic Eligibility for B.Tech Admissions:

Candidate shall have passed the qualifying examination with minimum eligibility criteria of percentage of marks in the subjects as prescribed by Govt. of Gujarat from time to time. Generally these subjects are Mathematics and Physics and Biology / Chemistry / Computer / Technical Vocational Course

33% of existing intake is filled by ACPC, Govt of Gujarat; 52% of intake is filled by All-India Quota by NU based on JEE Main score, and 15% of intake is filled by NRI quota based on PCM marks of std 12 exam without requiring any entrance test. The vacant seats of NRI quota may be filled by NRI sponsored quota based on JEE score.

The supernumerary CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN admission is based on PCM marks of qualifying exam, entrance test is not required.

Academic Eligibility for M.Tech Admissions: The student should have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology from a recognized university with minimum % of marks as prescribed by the AICTE from time to time or equivalent cumulative grade point index. OR The student should have passed any other qualifying degree/diploma examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University with minimum % of marks as prescribed by the AICTE from time to time or equivalent CPI. The existing intake is filled based on GATE score. If GATE qualified candidates are not available, NU may fill the seats based on NU’s entrance test.

The supernumerary quota of CIWGC-SEA and OCI/FN is filled based on marks of bachelor’s degree, entrance test is not required.

The students seeking admission in the 1st year of MCA (2-Year Programme) leading to Master Degree of Computer Applications shall have passed the qualifying examination with minimum % of marks, as prescribed by the Govt. of  Gujarat/ AICTE from time to time.
The supernumerary quota of CIWGC-SEA and OCI/FN admission is based on result of the qualifying exam, entrance test is not required.

The students enrolled in BS (Computer Science & Engineering, 2+2 Dual Degree Programme, Degree from US / Canada) study in the Computer Science and Engineering department of Nirma University for the first two years. On successful completion of the first two years, they will apply for the transfer to the third year of the undergraduate program of a partner university in US/Canada. Nirma University has collaboration with several universities abroad that students can apply as transfer students. The partner universities’ admissions requirements of CGPA, entrance exams, curricular / co-curricular / extra-curricular activities etc do apply. The regulations of the partner university will be applicable during the third and fourth year of the study. The partner university will award the undergraduate BS degree as per their regulations. Also, as the program is a dual degree program, separately Nirma University will award another undergraduate degree.

It is the student’s responsibility to clear the English proficiency test by appearing in the TOEFL or IELTS examination and apply for a student visa with a valid passport at US/Canadian embassy. In case a student could not fulfil the academic requirements of the first two-year phase or could not get admission/visa for the next two-year phase, he/she will continue his/her study at Nirma University and will be governed by the regulations of Bachelor of Technology programme of Nirma University for the said period of study and for awarding the Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Engineering) degree.

The regulations of Curtin University will be applicable during the third and fourth year of the study and students will be awarded Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Civil and Construction Engineering major as per their regulations. Also, as the program is a dual degree program, separately Nirma University will award BS (Civil Engineering) degree.

It is the student’s responsibility to clear the English proficiency test by appearing in the IELTS and apply for a student visa with a valid passport at Australian embassy. The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) emphasizes on internationalization of higher education and global exposure. In line with the NEP and UGC guidelines, the Bachelors of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (with exit option to earn PhamD degree from SUNY Binghamton, US) is offered by the Institute of International Study, Nirma University.

The students enrolled in BS (Pharmaceutical Science, With an exit option to earn PharmD degree from US) study at Institute of International Study, Nirma University for the first two years. After completing the first two years successfully, the students will have an exit option for consideration of admission to State University of New York at Binghamton (SUNY Binghamton) as per their rules and regulations. If the students are admitted at SUNY Binghamton, they will transfer into the professional phase of the PharmD programme at the State University of New York at Binghamton, U.S. for the next four years. The State University of New York at Binghamton will award a PharmD degree, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), to students who fulfil all programme requirements after six years of study (2+4) in total. Nirma University will also award such students an Undergraduate Diploma as per their rules and regulations. The students who opt to continue at Institute of International Study, Nirma University or the students who do not get the US Visa / admission will continue with the BSc programme and will be awarded the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree by Nirma University as per their rules and regulations.

PHARMACY CAREER
After finishing the professional phase of the PharmD at the State University of New York at Binghamton, U.S., the student can appear for the NAPLEX exam to get the license to work as a pharmacist in the U.S. community pharmacy. Optionally, the student can enrol into the PGY1 residency program in the U.S. hospital and after finishing the residency apply for the clinical pharmacist career in the hospitals. Also, working in the U.S. industries in R&D or regulatory affairs is another exciting career option.

ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must have passed the HSC 12th standard exam or an equivalent exam as approved by Nirma University with mandatory subjects as physics and chemistry and any one subject from mathematics, biology; and a minimum of 60% aggregate.
The admission is based on the merit decided by the theory portion marks of the three subjects physics, chemistry and mathematics / biology and interview. The practical portions marks are not considered in preparing the merit list.

Academic Eligibility for BBA-MBA [Five Year Integrated Programme] Admission:

Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Examination (10+2) or any other equivalent examination recognized by Nirma University with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

For 65% All-India seats, 15% NRI/NRI sponsored seats and 15% supernumerary CIWGC/PIO/FN seats, minimum 60% required at qualifying exam, for 20% Gujarat State seats minimum 90% required. All India quota admissions are given on the basis of IPMAT Test score, Personal interview and marks of qualifying exam. Gujarat State quota admissions are given on the basis of personal interview and marks of qualifying exam (IPMAT not required). NRI Sposored quota admissions are given on the basis of the entrance test conducted by NU, personal interview and marks of qualifying exam.

The candidates from NRI/CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN are exempted from any entrance test and admissions are based on qualifying exam only.

Academic Eligibility for B.Tech Admissions:

Candidate shall have passed the HSC or the equivalent qualifying examination with the subjects Mathematics and Physics and Biology / Chemistry / Computer / Technical Vocational Course, with minimum 60% marks.

85% of the total in-take shall be filled from the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from schools located in India (including Gujarat State) and have appeared for JEE (Main) 2020. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the JEE will be called for Personal Interview. The final merit shall be determined based on the following criteria:
Weightage of JEE (Main) scores: 50%, Weightage of performance in Personal Interview: 30%, Academic performance in qualifying examination: 20%
15% of the total intake shall be filled by NRI candidates. The JEE or any entrance test is not required from NRI candidates.
The vacant seats of NRI quota may be filled by NRI sponsored candidate based on the Entrance Test conducted by IMNU (50%), Weightage of performance in Personal Interview (30%), Academic performance in qualifying examination (20%).

The supernumerary CIWGC-SEA/PIO/FN admission is based on PCM marks of qualifying exam, entrance test is not required.

Academic Eligibility for MBA Admissions:

A three-year bachelor’s degree (10+2+3) or equivalent in any discipline from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing in the final year of the Bachelor’s Degree can also apply provided they furnish the proof of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria within 3 months of them joining the programme. MBA and MBA (HRM) admission of general quota (85% of intake) is given on the basis of CAT score, Interview, Presentation and Academics. MBA (FB&E) admission of general quota (85% of intake) is given on the basis of an entrance test conducted by NU, Interview, Communication Test and Academics.

For NRI/CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN quota, GMAT may be considered instead of CAT.

Academic Eligibility for M.Pharm Programmes Admissions:

The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized university with minimum 55% of marks (or equivalent cumulative grade point index) as prescribed by the PCI from time to time. OR any other qualifying degree/diploma examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University. For general quota, the eligible applicants with a valid GPAT score will be given preference for admission based on GPAT score in all the branches. The NON-GPAT candidates will be admitted, if seats are vacant, based on the merit of the written test conducted by Nirma University.

For supernumerary CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN quota, the admission is based on the marks of qualifying exam, entrance test is not required.

Academic Eligibility for BA-LLB & BCom-LLB Admissions:

A candidate should have passed Higher Secondary/Intermediate Examinations (10+2) or its equivalent examinations with not less than 45% aggregate marks. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May are also eligible for applying to the Institute. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. Admission is based on the inter se All India merit rank of CLAT Test.

The candidates from NRI/CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN quotas are exempted from CLAT requirement.

Academic Eligibility for LLM Admissions:

For 15 seats of LL. M. (Criminal and Security Law) and 15 seats of LL. M. (Constitutional and Administrative Law), the candidate should have passed the qualifying examination of Bachelor of Laws – Three Year Programme LL.B. (General) / LL.B. (Special) or LL.B. (Five year integrated course) from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks. The admission will be given to the candidates who have appeared in the PG-CLAT, 2019. However subject to the availability of the seats, non PG-CLAT candidates may be given admission on the basis of All India PG ILNU Entrance Test.

The admission to supernumerary quota CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN will be based on qualifying exam marks, entrance test is not required.

Academic Eligibility for M.Sc. Programmes Admissions:

The student should have the Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3/4/5, pattern of education in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Bio-technology, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fishery & Dairy Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine (MBBS), BDS, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Medical Laboratory Technology, BHMS, BAMS, B.Tech./ B.E. Biotechnology Physiotherapy and Bio-medical Engineering with at least 50% marks as aggregate of all the semesters / years. Admissions for General quota is based on national level entrance test conducted by NU.

The CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN supernumerary admission is based on marks of qualifying exam (no entrance test). There is no NRI quota.

Academic Eligibility for B.Arch. Admissions:

  1. Candidate should have qualified in NATA  examination and having valid NATA Score.
  2. No candidate shall be admitted to architecture course unless she/he has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with either Chemistry or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies with at least 45% marks in aggregate or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 45% marks in aggregate.

The 33% of existing intake is filled by ACPC, Govt of Gujarat; the 52% of intake is filled by All-India Quota by NU based on the marks at qualifying exam and NATA score, and the 15% of intake is filled by NRI quota based on the marks at qualifying exam and NATA score. The vacant seats of NRI quota may be filled by NRI sponsored quota.

The candidates shall have passed the HSC examination (10+2) any stream or (10+3) diploma or any other recognized examination considered as equivalent by Nirma University with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Academic Eligibility for B.Com. (Hons) Admissions:

Candidate shall have to pass the HSC examination (10+2) or any other recognized examinations considered equivalent by Nirma University with a minimum 60% aggregate mark with English as one of the subjects and with one of the following subjects Accountancy, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics. Percentage Marks / CGPI in 12th Standard Examination (i.e. HSC or equivalent) is used to prepare merit for admission in 85% seats of general quota, 15% seats of NRI quota and 15% supernumerary seats of CIWGC-SEA/OCI/FN.

Entrance test is not required for admission into any category.
